Historical outline:The Tropsztyn castle was built at the turn of the XIIIth and XIVth cent. by Zbrosław or his son Gniewomir, the heirs of the settlement of St. Świerad (as Tropie was so-called in the past, on the territory of which the castle was raised). The written sources for the first time mention the castle only in 1390 when it was already the property of Chebda family from Tropsztyn of Starykoń coat of arms. However, the relationship between Zbrosław and Gniewomir with the Chebda family, to whom the castle belonged until 1535, remain unknown. That year an abandoned castle was sold by Prokop Chebda to the castellan of Sandomierz, Piotr Kmita. However, already in 1541 the castle was already in hands the Robkowski family, whereas since 1556 it became the property of the Gabański family of Janina coat of arms. A few dozen years later, at the beginning of the XVIIth cent. the castle was already ruined. Present owners of the Tropsztyn castle popularize a legend that they are related to Incas living in the South America. How much of it is true, is unknown.
