Driving directions:Driving from Ziębice down the road no 395 to Wrocław you cross Wadochowice, in which you have to turn right to Przeworno. After covering 2 km there is Witostowice, in which you need to drive all the way long down the main road, as to spot the castle directly opposite at the sharp turn to the right.
Historical outline:A former name: Schönjohnsdorf
The first information on a defensive building in Witostowice come from 1351. Probably it was already a brick fortalice belonging to Piotr von Domantz. In the second half of the XVth cent. neighboring lands along with the castle became the property of von Stosch family who carried out numerous reconstructions of the stronghold. After the death of the last member of the von Stosch family the castle was frequently changing hands until 1738 when the Cistersians from Henryków bought it, the property of whom it remained till 1810. In that period the building was rebuilt after the fire and as a result of the construction works it lost its defensive values. After the secularization of monastic possessions, the castle was for a moment in royal hands till 1812 when it became the property of dukes of Sachsen-Weimar. Not destroyed during the last war, is used till today.
