Driving directions:Going from Jelenia Góra you have to go down the road no 3 towards Wrocław and turn right to Janowice Wiekie in Radomierz. From there go towards Wojanów, and then turn left to Karpniki. After turning a corner to the left you must drive straight ahead all the way long as far as you encounter the parking lot in the forest on the left side. There you ought to park and walk along a blue trail to the Szwajcarka hostel, and from it – down a black trail to the Krzyżna Mountain. After climbing a summit and finding the rock noticeable in the picture no. 5, the remainders of walls would be found right behind it.
Time of climbing: about 30 min.
Historical outline:Former name: Falkenstein
Sokolec Castle emerged in the XIVth cent. on the initiative of dukes of Świdnica-Jawor. The hypothesis exists that it might have been built in the place of earlier manor. In 1372 the stronghold came into Henryk Czirna’s hands as fief granted by duchess Agnieszka. The castle was destroyed already in the XVth cent. Abandoned since then, deteriorated, which confirm the sources from 1668. Merely a few stones, which formed the wall once have remained until contemporary times.
