If you draw up to the walls close enough (I dissuade the owners of neat cars from doing that), the access is very easy
Subjective rating:
Comparatively nice site and the ruins
Driving directions:
Driving down the road no 297 from Lwówek Śląski towards Bolesławiec you pass through Żerkowice. There you have to turn right towards Gaszów and drive as far as Skała. In the village follow the main road all the time and on the left side of the road, high above its level look out for the walls of the palace. As to drive up to the very palace you need to turn left at certain moment, into a gravel, bumpy road and drive down it sharply up the hill.
Historical outline:
A former name: Hohlstein
In the Middle Ages existed the castle in Skała built on initiative of dukes of Świdnica. The building was frequently changing its hands, and in 1428 was destroyed by the Hussites. In 1513 the reconstruction of the castle was carried out, possibly with the use of the old walls. The reconstructions from the XVIIIth and XIXth cent. gave it the shape of the palace, which was destroyed in 1945.
